Which version of TS is least buggy? 4, 2000i, 8? On what Win version?

I'm using TS4.0 build 23, running on WinNT4 client - the original configuration more or less, just a few upgrades like a new harddrive etc.

I used to be very happy (until recently) that this was a very stable configuration that met all my needs.

However the EL system I am working on now is big, almost to the limit that I have to clean up unused variables and remove lines I don't need anymore, otherwise I hit the maximum size limit.

I'm using the ChartScanner alot too and it's crashing frequently with OR_LIB.DLL errors.

Does anyone recall whether TS4 became more reliable post Y2K (the last time I upgraded)? Is there a definitive 'best' version of TS?

Is 2000i better? Any recommendations?

One thing to try before you give up is to increase the cache memory available on your PC. (i.e. the area of hard disk used as temporary memory space).
I have TS2000i and suffered many intraday freezes in Globalserver and Radar. I now have none.

I'm using end-of-day data, so it's not a data feed problem, nor do I think it's generally the virtual memory swap file, which has a gig.

I think it may be my hardware flaking out, but I've tested my memory and it passes with no problem.

Your swap file can be much bigger than 1GB, so still may be worth increasing to, say, 4GB.

I increased the swap file to 5 gig - the max it would allow.

It still gives me the General Protection Faults from OR_LIB.DLL.

Maybe something is going wrong with my EasyLang script - although I have been careful to avoid divide-by-zero situations.
