You are probably too young to remember the dreadful Christmas fare one had to endure as a young lad; Ruby wine, lots of socks (some with reindeer emblazoned thereon), Imperial leather aftershave (only ever advertised at Christmas) and over boiled cabbage and brussel sprouts. The wine , I remember, was similar to that which one sprinkles upon a bag of chips. I was glad to get outside into the fresh air, away from the smell of over cooked cabbage and the clinging aroma of brussel farts.
