Virtual Trading Software

Is anyone aware of any software on the market which can act just like a normal charing program (i.e. chart price movements, plot exponential moving averages, allow trend lines to be drawn, etc), but produce these charts tick by tick from a HISTORICAL intraday data file (OHLCV type data), rather than a real-time feed?

The aim is to use it as a tool to effectively paper trade, but in a virtual real-time environment.

I think I will have to write one myself, but I thought I would check to see what is available first.

I just poked around their website a little more. I had originally put them on my "nevermind" list, because it was more than I wanted to spend. Closer examination shows that they have a lease option:
$200 covers the first 90 days, then $50/ month if you want to renew.

Thats more doable. And I think it allows you access to all the historical data, so that seems like an OK deal.

That is great. I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.

It is extremely close, though I think it is intended solely for use while connected to their server which provides the data feeds, etc, rather than being a standalone product you can hook up to your own historical data files.

Like you say, $200 US for 3 months, then $50 US p/month thereafter, so definitely one to keep in mind.

Not true. You can use your own data as long as it's in the right format. They have a support forum at their website if you need clarification.
