UK gilt yields turn negative for the very first time!

There was an historic moment on the bond markets this morning as yields on benchmark UK government bonds turned negative for the first time ever.

When the yield on a bond turns negative it means investors will lose money from holding the bond, but in times of huge falls on the stock markets some might consider this a price worth paying.
