So - there's this young lad I'm semi-related too & he lives up North in Thailand and is keen as mustard to get on & make something of himself.

Some time last year, we discussed the 'dog' business. This business involves trading various items for dogs, taking them to the abattoir to sell where you can get a better price/kilo than you can for beef. Dog is not widely eaten in Thailand but in the North, a lot of guys eat it before a night out to give them 'power'.

Anyway - I met up with another guy doing this - let's call him "The Dog Man". The Dog Man had come from humble beginnings & made something of himself. A nice house, 2 pickup trucks - basically what is a pretty good living up there. I had a chat with him about his business and he seemed to have no qualms about me setting up the young lad in business. Total cost to me was about $1000 - cages in a pickup for the dogs plus stock of items to trade for dogs, gas money etc.

Now - things started fairly slow but the guy was making a living. A few other people started up when they heard what my man was doing, so they got into the business too. There was no problem with them competing, Thailand is a big place & the abattoir has an insatiable lust for dog meet.

None of the people that started managed to make a lot of money though. You can't do it alone, so you have a small wage to pay every day and it seemed like everyone was treading water. The Dog Man told us that he knew all the routes, the best places to get the dogs etc.

Fair enough then, it's just down to experience so we'll keep on with it. It's been almost a year and still we are treading water. Anyway, The Dog Man was still showing signs of doing well. Hard work will win the day.

So - anyway, it did come as a fairly big ****ing surprise when I switched on the news last night & saw The Dog Man on TV. Nope - this wasn't an interview of a local entrepreneur - this was prime time national TV. He was in handcuffs. He was crying. He'd just been caught with 900 Kilos of prime Laotian weed just after driving back across the border to Thailand.

I knew he had a secret... I just didn't think that was it.

Anyway - there's a dog business for sale if anyone wants a new career.
