Strong Hand.

Firstly, re: strong hands, I am in the market for a new Chess Set. After a bit of internet window shopping, I came across an website ChessBaron.co.uk - liked the look of one particular set, clicked to see more photo's, and struck upon the image attached. Does anyone else think this looks suspiciously like a Man's hand with an amateur attempt at nail polish????

Secondly, re: W*nking for strong hands...

Did you know......?

While I was at uni, I heard about a paper that had been pubished in The Lancet (medical journal) that had done some research on the sexual drives of guys and girls at uni. One of the results was that about 86% of men regularly masturbated in the shower. Interesting enough, but the really interesting bit is what the remaining 14% get up to.

Do you know?

No?

Didn't think you would ;)

What is the definition of a strong hand? What makes a strong hand?:?:

You asked for all these answers you know! ;)

What is a strong hand....? more money than anyone else, you move the market then!

A strong hand is one that beats all other hands by virtue of an "edge".

Are you familiar with poker?

What do you do if you have a strong hand and you know your opponent has a weaker one?

Do you simply play your hand and beat them?

Not if you are a good player.

If you are a good player you try and get them to put more money into the pot.

How do you do this?

By calling or raising.

This happens in the market place day in and day out.

Levels are squeezed for the sole purpose of shaking out the weak hands.

I don't get it. I wank in the shower, and play chess too (not at the same time mind, I use my right hand for both).

If you're right-handed, lie on your left arm until it's numb then use that. Feels like someone else is doing it (so a friend tells me).

Nah - let's face it - most of the fairer sex are crap at it. I've got it off to a fine art, so why pretend?:D

UTB,

This was point of contention in my youth. Maybe that should be a bone of contention.

LMAO ... great post tb ... laughed till I cried ... I'd rep you if I hadn't just done so.

Mr Gecko,

Re Playing chess. That must be a record size for a red herring. I put it to you, Sir, you were in fact looking for chess-playing male who wore nail polish. I rest my case. Mi lud...

Grant.

Grant,

On the contrary, you will be suprised to find what turns up if you Google "The Queen's Gambit" (I am not yet brave enough to see his French Defense).

Off to Belize in a couple of hours, good trading gents.

p.s. I assume that his french defense is not just eating garlic and surrendering.

Mr Gecko,

I reckon Google will be especially busy this morning.

Good luck with Belize.

Morning guys, Some funny posts there, and a lot of masturbation. But hey, a lot of time on our 'hands' waiting for the next 'squeeze'. Jeez, punsville.

TDs post mentioned weak hands being squeezed out, is this intentional (not in a cynical fashion), does an accumulation of weak hands cause a magnetism towards them, it's as as if weak hands are instant value for the market to collect and give to the stronger hands. So we get the shake outs.

How do we avoid continually creating weak hands.

Ok. Let's say we trade a BO method (or break-in, however you view it) with a tight stop, you can see around certain prices the same action happening over and over. You know the price is going to break, all the signs are there, volume etc, and you have a target above or below the price that the market seems interested in. So, why not have a two fold strategy? I've seen tons of trades on here getting the direction bang on, but getting stopped out, then the poster may shy away from posting another trade because of embarrasment or whatever.

So wether you trade one market or multiple markets, is it inevitable that you are going to create weak hands because of lack of depth strategy wise?

Hope this make sense, i can't make head nor tail of it!

Paul, with all of the talk about edges this is a good follow-on. If so many people understood the answer to your question and exactly how the strong hands worked then everyone would make money! (not possible obviously) This is why so many lose money because they don't understand exactly what they're up against, and don't understand why something moves the way it does and the dynamics of the underlying. It's all about herding and trapping for maximum effect in my mind.

Someone did actually help me and give me a fantastic insight into the strong hands/ weak hands working and it has helped me leaps and bounds. There are still days where it doesn't make sense but that's the time to sit back and wait.

I'm not sure this thread will not fall into mass debate (pun intended) and argument, but that can be healthy sometimes. I wait with interest to see what views others have on this one.

I think trading breakouts per definition need a wider stop as opposed to waiting for a swing or retracement back to the important level.

Or you talking about trending vs ranging days perhaps?
