Software for a newbie?

I need a basic software package to get started on.

For the moment, I just need to do simple technical analysis - moving averages and the like - while I learn.

Can anyone recommend a good, low-cost, easy-to-learn package?

Metatrader 4 is on a 90 day trial, relatively cheap to fund account. I was going to suggest a spreadbetting account but you are in States so its a nono

ProRealTime is free for EOD.

The charting package automatically draws in horizontal and diagonal lines unless you tell it not to!

This is a useful learning resource for identifying S/R, trends, channels and certain chart patterns eg triangles, wedges etc.

Depends on what you are trading. Amibroker offers some excellent software for a very reasonable price. If you're placing enough trades, TradeStation's platform isn't bad either.

IMO, stockfinder is the best software for anyone (but is especially good for beginners).

way too complex.......

i wanna just analyse UK FTSE stocks......i have MT4........cant figure it out.....ive installed it......... help guide is poor........nothing is making sense.

is there software to just help you analyse stocks? work out support resistance etc.....? for free?

Try Market Analyst 5 or the recent upgrade MA6 - excellent value for money
