Should you pay a stamp duty if u short an UK share ? Because you borrow the share before you sell it ...
 
No. Because you're only borrowing the share there is no change in the legal owner, so no transfer that needs stamping.

Thanks guys , if i trade through a nominee account do i pay SDRT or stamp duty ?
 
If the stock is dematerialised (i.e not certificated) you pay SDRT.

As an aside if you trade CFDs you don't pay stamp. But then you probably knew that.
