Powerful stuff from a high profile figure. Almost sounds like a galvanising call to the citizens of the UK. My concern would be that defeating extremists is far easier done when there is less talk and more action, otherwise you run the risk of galvanising support amongst the extremists.

When you look at the stuff put out by Isis, and the psychological effect it has on fellow nutters, then you need someone to explain our resolve very clearly - which is what I thought Andrew Neil did. Far better than the politicians' fawning over ex IRA terrorists. Respectfully just my personal opinion.

Yes I agree.
The problem is that our current crop of leaders have boxed themselves in, constrained by political correctness, where they are not allowed to call a spade a spade. This problem should change somewhat after Brexit. I hope!

They need to take a leaf out of Farages book and start telling people some home truths.

OTOH, one should consider the possibility that ISIS is being used as a bright, shiny object and that this guy would have done what he did even if ISIS didn't exist. If ISIS is judged "the problem", then the efforts to solve the problem are directed toward the wrong place, which merely prolongs the resolution to the problem, whatever the source may be.
