Ok I have a question that maybe someone can answer about rep points.
I was wondering if there was a list someplace for the different levels of rep and how many points it takes to get each new rep icon.

I was trying to remember at what levels I made what but I couldn't so I went looking only to find that there is no really good explanation.
I know this has no bearing on anything in real life, but being a numbers nerd I kinda would like to know.

On your user panel it has "rep power" or something underneath the subscribed threads. Maybe some help, I'm not completely sure.

Various people have asked over the years - there are a couple of threads where Sharky lists them all. Good luck finding them as search facility has never been a strong point of this site.

...there has been a change to the rep system since then to extend its display past it's original 10 gold dot limit of 10,000 rep points received, which is the gold star and so it goes on, each time a member clocks up past 10 gold dots they receive another star.

I'm not sure if there are posts from admin regarding the points required to reach other levels eg the points required to get the 1st light green dot, the 1st gold dot etc. It should be easy to roughly work it out, so I'll take a look over the weekend sometime.

Also the points system as explained in the original announcement may have been tweaked a little, I will try and check that out.

It could well be lol, I have heard rumour of 10 stars having the title of

Grand Master and Keeper of the Grail



Anyway, here for anyone that's interested are the rep levels and their icons, I'm sure it's accurate to a degree but E&OE so no complaining please

Grey dot = no rep points received.

1 green dot will equal any rep given by a member with rep power.

The second green dot will appear when 150 points are passed and so on, adding a green dot every 150 points. There are 5 green dots.

Light green dot @ 750 points. Now it gets harder to gain dots with 250 points needed for each dot. There are 5 light green dots.

Gold dot @ 2000 points. You will need whopping 800 points per dot. There are 10 gold dots.

Gold star @ 10,000 points then the cycle starts again with the star plus green, light green and gold dots all the way through to a second gold star ad infinitum.

Should we reset reps soon? They're starting to get a bit silly...

They're naturally inflationary, y'see. Maybe we should have a deflationary multiplier, decreases them by 1% each day or something?

Or alternatively we could increase them by 1% every day, of course. Otherwise you have guys like firewalker that accumulated them all when a rep was a rep, shilling and pence being overtaken by someone like me with this new fangled decimal reps that aren't even on the gold standard anymore

Surely the period any one member has been a member of the forum, and the number of the posts they have made, should play some sort of role in determining the value of one "rep" point? Point is, a rep from arabian might not be worth as much as a rep from someone else...

..something like (Rep points / # of posts) * time should be used to establish a uniform unit of "fiat rep".

But seriously, I was wondering and it all is coming together now. Knowing this will improve my trading to a level it has never been at before.
