Refresh rates and LG Monitors!

I have a LG 22" 226W Led Monitor that is causing my eyes terrible trouble!!!!!
I used to have a graphics card that let me set the refresh rate to 85Htz which solved the problem. I know the LCD monitors are set to work on 60Htz however the 85Htz did work for a long time until my old graphics card broke. My new card (Geforce PCI E 7200GS 256MB) will only let me set it to 60Htz and its is making my eyes so sore I feel as if I am in a sand storm! How can I resolve this setting issue? I have done all the usual things like change the brightness, contrast, sharpness etc but this did not help the last time nor is it helping now. Please could someone advise me with a solution.Also the desk top is all distorted and the fonts are too thin or too long. If I adjust one peramiter something else goes wrong. What can I do? Please help!

LG L222WS refresh rate max 60Hz ?

may find some info there to save your eyes.

I have an lg and it hurt my eyes to start with, i now can't remember exactly what i did now to improve things, looking through my settings i think i may have set the flatron engine to normal, dulls things off a bit, then its not overly bright and burning out your retinas :cheesy:

That is a low end graphics card. It might not be able to do 85Hz. I couldn't find the spec for max refresh rate. I'm sure if you ask on the Nvidia support forum, somebody will help.

Something like a 9400 GT or 9500 GT might be a fairly inexpensive alternative.

If it is not the card itself it might be the driver config. Monitors report their capabilities to a graphics card via something called the EDID. If the EDID says the max refresh rate is 60 Hz, then the driver may refuse to go any higher. I think you can overide the EDID in the driver settings. The Nvidia support forum would probably help you out with this too.
