Poetry for Traders...

Looking at the market menu
Deciding what to eat
Seeing new highs are being made
I think I'll have the rally-meat

The waiter asks, "which dish?"
I point and say, "that one"
"And how would Sir like market?"
"I'll have mine overdone!"

Haha yup, reading some great stuff here. You guys got some real talent.

You know Felix Dennis ?

Sounds like yet another career option Magnus !!!

Star struck girls in the first audience rows adoring you on stage instead of stewardesses in the cockpit ?!?

:D

OK don't want to derail the thread any more haha but you've got the skills so why not a reading tour.

lol... Yeah, very good book... Probably the most no-nonsense book on anything I've ever read.

Poet-cheerleader?!...... I think I sense a career change...

I see my setup clearly
I click the button. Long.
I cool and calmly confirm
The market is still strong

I don't usually feel so confident
Something must be wrong
Check the market yet again
It's great. It's strong. I'm long.

I check my P&L this time
It's looking kinda funny
Even though I'm long and right
I'm haemorhagging money

After floundering for a while
I finally get it sorted
The realisation is right there
I fat-fingered. I shorted.

The time is 14:10
So I thought I'd write a poem
My trading has been so bad of late
I'm get nervous towards the Open

I thought one time I'd trade the news
Swing the bat and whack
I still remember it very well
The shirt came off my back.

I followed Dante's set-ups thread
as a doe-eyed whip snapper
all the while posts filled my head
probability, pivots, pins, hammers

blinded by ignorance and confidence alike
I went short a crude CFD
when the alpha agreed the price had hiked
and the hourly bulls would collect and retreat

two minutes later I was many guineas down
my heart was racing, anger, distraught
to late did I realise the number was round
just above the level I had short

seven and zero-thrice I curse thee
and same my short sixty nine and half
never again did I trade so blindly
I know now that the level was sought

so this my friends is retrospect
a lesson I learned of impatience and fades
there more to trading I've yet to "get"
but still and Ode To My First Trade

*applause*

"thank you that you, you're too kind"

Prior to NFP's
My price feeds always freeze
Aha - it's just my broker
Playing at being a joker.

It's ten past four and what a bore
Today has been for me.
I've finished down, I feel a clown
But soon I'll just feel poor.

True story from today...

It's really kinda funny
The P&L today
I was deep down in dreaded red
But things suddenly went my way

I made a series of silly trades
Rookie to the core
I told myself I was done today
But then thought, 'yeah, one more'

I pulled the trigger
Closed my eyes
Straight into profit
To suspicious surprise

I said to myself
With no hint of bluffing
"This trade here
Is all or nothing"

I managed to hold it
Though it was tough
Even when the market
Called MY bluff

I finally trade out
Check the P&L
The colour is green?
What the hell?!

It just goes to show you
When your P&L aches
There's a bit of room
For silly mistakes

If you're a short-term trader
And your broker is giving you flak
Have a go at Direct Access
I'm sure you won't go back

But what about the size?
This is what worries me.
The bookies let me play it cheap
1 pip for 50p...

Here I am, at my desk
Ready for another day
Charts open, fingers crossed
Please market, go my way

Roses are red
Violets are blue
You may love the market
But it doesn't love you

:p

I'm at my desk by 6AM
Still scratching and yawning
In a way, it's quite perverse
As I never trade the Morning

Bloody hell, I can't believe it
I've just found the Holy Grail
Come in closer
It's kind of a secret
Have you heard of Martingale?

Traders finding little success
Wonder what the truth is
Most responses unto them
"Treat it like a business."

With this hint
I do agree
There is, however
More to see

Something quite intangible
Certainly not set in stone
Only one way to discover
And this is on your own

In the medium of words
This poetical parlance
I'll have a go at telling you
About the essentials of balance

You've heard it all before?
You want me to go away?
Okay, but just listen a minute
To what I have to say

It's quite a tricky thing
For someone to explain
But once you fully get it
You'll never be the same

The business-like approach
Is really nothing new
Money-management, Risk, et al
Apply to these so true

The overarching concept, however
Underlying all your trading
I'm just about to tell you
I really hope you're listening

Okay, here it is
As I know you're really curious
The other great truth of trading
Is don't take it so serious

You're thinking, 'that's it?'
And, 'you've wasted my time!'
And that's fair enough
Perhaps I've wasted mine

But when trading gets tough
On your road to wealth
Just remember life's core
Friends, family and health.

Delve real deep
Analyse it
