Next week, most of the big banks, including Bank of America (BAC), Citigroup (C), and Goldman Sachs (GS), report. Tech names like Microsoft (MSFT) and Google (GOOG) report.

If these bellwether companies in Finance and Tech wasn’t enough, there’s a two-day meeting of European Union leaders, and a third-quarter GDP report from China.

If one of these big bankers come out and beat earnings you are going to get some big up moves but on the other side, if the miss, you will probably get some more exaggerated moves to the downside. The moves down will probably be a little bit harder than the moves up next week.

Next week should be volatile and good for day traders and swing traders.

You have to add options expiration week which usually brings additional volatility.

Good point on options expiration next week Vicorka.

The most troubling index is the Russell 2000 Small Cap Index. Small caps often lead the market both up and down. The Russell 2000 has broke below the support level of 830 on Friday. All the other major indices are still testing their previous support levels. Is the Russell 2000 forecasting that the other major indices will break below this level as well? Probably.
