"Cabinet meetings are normally held on a Tuesday morning in 10 Downing Street.
The spokesman said it was hoped that in future more would take place away from London."

This is a quote from BBC NEWS | Politics | Cabinet 'may go to West Midlands'

Rather reminds me of some time I spent with one of the more "go-ahead" parts of the Civil Service: Every so often we'd have an away-day to think up new ideas, do networking and team-building. Great lunch, welcome change from the office routine and opportunity to float innovative proposals.

Result: basically a waste of time because the culture and willingness to change were stuck in a treacle-like medium. When it's the people & system that are wrong then meetings & committees are a waste of time IMHO.

"if things don't change then they'll stay the way they are" - apologies to Sir Isaac.

I quite like the idea as a northerner at heart. London is very over represented by government.

On the other hand Birmingham is a ****hole. They should do this in Durham or similar in my opinion.

Could have a roaming cabinet between ten or twenty cities, towns and villages!
