Nasdaq Stocks That Move

After a spell of trading UK stocks & European indices I have decided to take a look at day trading Nasdaq stocks. The short term, big movers appeal and as such I would like to create a Nasdaq Boardwatch that I can monitor on a regular basis in preparation to take those all important quick and hopefully profitable trades.

It would be great to hear from those seasoned Nasdaq traders that can post their favourite stocks that they like to keep an eye on and in particular those that give quick and foreseeable moves that are relatively easy to profit from.

EBAY, YHOO, AMZN,MXIM,TEVA,MERQ,MRVL,CECO,ERTS,RIMM, GILD,GENZ to name just a handful.
There are hundreds. You want to be looking for ATR around 1.50 to 2.00 and daily traded volume of 1.5 million minimum.
Just look at the NDX100 stocks. There are plenty there.

Just a word though. It is never easy to profit from anything, but stocks such as these will present you with the opportunity for profit.

Test Your Ideas

For a daytrade, liquidity and volatility are the key for me. Furthermore You can look at the sector relative strength to the market and the stock's relative strength to the sector.

The question now becomes what should the values of these dimensions be to initiate a trade?

Rather than sit and wait for a pair or handful of stocks to come to you and verify yourself if your thresholds have been met, let any number of software applications available do it for you. Several are out there with varying prices and features.

Maybe try using a stock screener. Like Livescan from Nextrend, or www.trade-ideas.com
www.traderbot.com

These links describe how one tool looks for liquidity, volume, RS, and many other dimensions:

Scanners are good at looking for potential plays.Sometimes you'll see a stock keep coming up time and again in a certain scan criteria that your looking at.The odds are you've seen a hot stock.

There is a new scanning site that i've been beta testing, with great results. This will be launched soon. Not only will it scan the US markets but the UK market as well.

I'm testing something before its launched. My comments and anyone else thats testing it, are taken on board by the owners. They presumably collate the results and decide if they want to adjust or change things to make the product better.

I believe that it's close to being realeased so i dont think they need anymore people to test it.

However if anyone is at my Nasdaq seminar on Tuesday at e trade's offices in the City they can talk to one of the owners directly because i've arranged for him to come along and demonstrate his product.

Details are on t2w at. http://www.trade2win.co.uk/events/event.php?id=183

what exactly are beta testers ?

A beta test version is generally the last phase of testing prior to live release.

Beta testers are the people involved in testing at that level and as Naz says, feed back their issues/problems/findings to the developers.

Naz,

I'm on the look out for a UK Stock screener. Where / when will you post details of this product you're testing?

I'm dining with the trader involved with it tonight who's putting the final touch's to it.When its available i'll ask him to come on t2w and mention it, so everyone will be able to check it out and he can answer any questions.
