Hi Guys,
I did an undergrad in Maths and Economics and am now doing a MSc. in Computational Finance in Ireland. The masters is very practical (we have a live trading floor using Reuters) and our lecturers were traders our quants in Asia and America before turning to academia, so at least their anecdotes are relevant and they have experience.
The college has a partnership with a university in Shanghai, as a result we have a few of their students here, but next year we get to go over there to do another masters in management & economics with a 6 month work placement and Mandarin lessons provided.
I want to be a trader and was wondering if heading out there (there will be about 5 of us) would help? The masters out there won't be very academically helpful, but through networking in the college and with the financial markets in Shanghai growing so quickly it seems an obvious choice (though open to correction). I am 23 now and if I ever came home to London or Dublin, would having Mandarin and a few years in industry help me to get a well paid job back here in a few years?
Thanks in Advance
