What is everyone's view on using 7 day rate of change (momentum) as a good way of distinguishing yourself from the rest of the market?
I find it gives an early indication of price change?

charlie, really; why could you possibly think that you could distinguish yourself by using an indicator that is readily available to all. Why would your edge be a 7 day..why not make it 9.5? that would distinguish yourself more.
Even better, use an 8 period moving average as nobody uses these?
Ok sarcasm aside..
An indicator/any indicator will not distinguish yourself. They are all calculated using the exact same 5 pieces of data that every single other one is OHLCV.
the earliest indication of price change is not something that is 7 days behind, how is that early?..it is price itself. that is the ONLY indication of price change
