I know it is not permitted to resell market data without permission from an exchange, or reseller, and I presume that showing live charts would also be illegal for same reason.

But, is it permitted to publish charts of old market data, say a few months back? Is that covered by copyright, or some other T&Cs?

I know when I was in this business we never actually sold the data, only the right for someone to use it. A proper title of ownership never passed to the purchaser. That was the only way to control what anyone did with it i.e. you could restrict their use of your property. If you're thinking of publishing any data then you should beware as I would think the same terms would generally apply irrespective of the age of the data..

In theory the rules for 'old' data are the same as for 'new' data. In reality I think very few care about older data. All requests to remove data from sites and legal actions taken that I'm aware of was for newer data. (less than a day old). As said, in theorie the same limitations apply. I don't know what you want to do with the data, but what's wrong with playing it safe and just sending an e-mail to the owner and ask for permission?
