Hello,
I would like to ask you for some advice as I am just beginning to trade. I noticed that every single day or 2 there is ultra high volume at closing time and surprisingly the price just does not move. I have tried to find out what that means but I'm just not able. What do you think?
Is there a hedge fund vs. all trader+investors situation, hedge fund vs hedge fund, machine vs machine both bid & ask? It's obvious that it isn't investors vs. investors, so what do you think?

Look into the concept of mean reversion. See if you can apply it to this situation.

What does this say about the nature of an auction? How do you extrapolate this into overall market moves?

Keep thinking, and dig deeper...

I dont know about other days, but today at the close of the ES there was a real battle going on. Price wouldn't budge in either direction. I was expecting the bears to win, and I guess in the after market they did initially. But those last 3 minutes into the close was some furious action.
