Looky at what my higher tax rates are paying for

Well I think we agree things need to change at least.

I am not sure I believe there is a free market in the US, or that the people you are talking about actually want one as this would threaten their position of priviledge, but I wont get into all that I am sure you heard it all before.

I don't buy into all this republicans = bad guys democrats = good guys business either

We must never ever let the greedy bankers off the leash, ever again. The gullible politicians like Clinton and Blair fell for their lies that business should be unfettered.Who knows what dirty backroom deals were made, Oh no, they are driven by their greed and so forgot any principles they might have had imho

Hence most of our present problems

What we badly need is a system where people of quality and integrity are in charge - not those blood sucking lot of the lowest common denominators !!

How about just voting them out. The founding fathers of this country gave the people the most powerful weapon against government, the power of the vote. Unfortunately they gravely underestimated the stupidity of the American voter.

Peter

Pete,

The Founding fathers gave the people of the USA a REPUBLIC not a Democracy.

Outside Independence Hall when the Constitutional Convention of 1787 ended, Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, "A republic, if you can keep it."

The Founding fathers were aware of how EVIL democracy is, ie/ Mob rule and how DUMB the average voter is. The insidius system allows Politicians to buy votes with taxpayer money and THAT is what is Bankrupting the USA (all the entitlements promised by previous Politicians). The country would still be on the path to bankruptcy even if taxes were raised on everybody. The idea that rasing it on the "rich" will solve the debt problem is only a good idea to people who havent got the foggiest idea of the situation.

Well, when the choice comes down to voting between a rock and a hard place (neither of which are satisfactory) is it any wonder the voters turn off.

It is cold comfort, but President Barack Obama is a Socialist at heart and doesn’t believe in Free-markets and “rugged individualism” because he says “It doesn’t work”. He has been in office 4 years and has another 4 years to go. When the next crisis hits there is no way the Marxists and Socialists will be able to use Capitalism as the scapegoat again.

Agree.
U.S. debt has been a snowball careering downhill for 3 decades.
Reagan, Clinton, Dubya and Obama have all given it a hefty push with varying force.
All of them are to blame ultimately.

It seems strange that the average person who steals $100 of groceries from the corner shop has problems when caught but the politicians who waste billions and now trillions of public money retire on big fat pensions and perks.

Blair & Brown etc. on this side and Clinton/ Dubya etc. on the other side. Trichet etc. in Europe.

Maybe they should be brought to account. It may lay down guidelines for future wasters. They could get a salary while in office and then a trial and judgement as to how well they did afterwards. Might even get rewarded for a good job.
