I am with Oanda and very happy there, but they do not offer account insurance and that is a problem.
Nobody would have thought that Refco could go down but they did.
Responsibility towards ones funds is obviously of enormous importance.
Another approach while we are waiting to see what the chances are of insuring your broker account yourself against fraud and bankruptcy is to go straight to the source.
Who knows any brokers - not spreadbetting companies - that offer account insurance ?
To start of with:
- Interactivebrokers.com : insure accounts up to 3o mill.
- Saxobank.com : 40 K. OK. But better than nothing, and in a worst case scenario a stake of 40K would be enough to get you going again.
Any others anybody is aware of ?
