I can now find out what those weird looking lines really mean  , cheers Fibonelli

Hey forexpilgrim.

Thanks for the link. I looked at this chart system a while ago. It looked interesting, but I didn't know what to do with all the funny colours and strange lines.

I haven't properly read it yet, but the link looks good. Bags of info. There is an interesting part about entry/exit strategies, which may be fun to backtest.

Good find.

Agreed, the explanations provided on the link are clear. This is in complete contrast to the latest book on the subject published by Harriman entitled 'Ichimoku Charts - An introduction to Ichimoku Kinko Clouds' by Nicole Elliott. It is spectacularly bad. I suspect that Ms. Elliott dashed it off one afternoon when the markets were a tad slow. The text then went straight to the printer, bypassing copy editors and proof readers alike. An example of just how bad this book is can be found in the appendix entitled 'Constructing Candlestick Charts'. The attached image says it all. If anyone from Harriman happens to read this - I want my money back!

Lol timsk.

It looks like a school project. I like the comment about graph paper. I haven't used any of that stuff for yonks.

And how come is it every book published about TA tells you how to read a candle? I wouldn't be able to trade without them!?!

Doh!

I spotted it second time round! I was a bit tired last night. Bit of a school boy error isn't it?

Nicole is on CNBC at the moment - she got her open/close round the right way today

Good for her. We've got CNBC on right now on our floor however and I can't see her. Oh well.

She works for Mizuho and has a regular CNBC slot on a tuesday - she was only on briefly today - she was banging on about the bund...

I don't have anything against Ms. Elliott personally, indeed, I've no reason to think she's anything other than a delightful woman. In fact, she rather inspires me in as much that if someone can write a book that's even half as bad as hers AND still hold down a job with a major institution AND be invited onto CNBC - then there's hope for the likes of me! To be fair, I accept that a large part of the blame for the book must rest with the publishers rather than the author.
:cheesy:
GJ - you are quite right in your comments posted earlier re. mistakes. Ordinarily, for me to criticize is akin to the pot calling the kettle black. However, in the case of this book, I'm entirely justified. Trust me, it really is that bad. If you want see for yourself, PM me your address and I'll bung it in the post to you.

Nicole is not perfect.... but she has highlighted opps that have made me money. She majors in bonds/fx but she has done particularly well in comms particularly alerting me to the long term breakout on cotton which made me happy..... she did the same for coffee a while back.........

my main indicator in trading...I have had some rather substantial profits from it...took me over a year to become profitable though, and I am still learning new things.
