How Much Volume Would New Deutsche Mark Have?

If the Euro fails how would a new German Deutsche Mark rank alongside the other major currencies in volume traded? Currently I think they rank something like this in volume:

USD
EUR
GBP
JPY
CHF

Where would a new German Deutsche Mark rank among them, and any other important currencies that would be born?

Why does that matter? I think that should be obvious. Volume traded has a direct effect on size of spreads and volatility, among other factors.

Does anyone know how the German Deutsche Mark ranked in volume before the Euro was created? That would be a strong indicator of where it would rank if reborn.

The yen is above the GBP , and obviously DM will come second instead of the Euro or maybe the yen will come second ...

Smth tells me that the last thing you're gonna have to worry about where spreads and volatilty are concerned is the effects of volume.

I'm not interested in discussing that, particularly with you. I started this thread because I'm interested in how a new Deutsche Mark would rank in volume. Apparently you don't know.

Well neither do you. But where you and MH diverge is that he is not a w-anker.

Erm, indeed, you're right, I don't know... But, and be sure to gird your loins, 'cause this might be a shock, neither does anyone else. Moreover, the relevant question that you neglect to answer is volume during what period. If DEM is reintroduced, there will be a lot of activity initially, as many contracts need to be renegotiated into DEM and the world central banks need to deal with the various ramifications. That means that DEM might very well be, for a short while, the highest volume currency there is in the whole wide world. Once that period is over, the volume will probably settle to a multiple of the volume of trade between Germany and the rest of the world. You can easily estimate the multiple by looking at similar numbers for the EU (I get arnd 0.2). Once you have this, it's a trivial task to estimate the relative volumes of DEM.

Have I now answered your question?

the euro isn't dead yet... so this is all hypothetical, its impossible to give an answer, because in this new currency, we have to first establish how the euro died and its impact on germany, orderly? war? Grexit+Exitalia+Portugone act? no one knows no one can know, and the only way to know is for it to happen

War is never good for anyone. It just brings with it destruction of mankind and the natural resources which are scarce and precious loss of lives:|
Don't be such a mincer. It gets rid of the deadwood. The people that can't even get a job in a call centre get conscripted, killed, and the government doesn’t have to pay any benefits. Win-Win.

It also means eventually, exchange controls and rationing. Fantastic method for curbing inflation and stimulating growth.

War, what is it good for…see above.

actually dangerously untrue, in the ussr it was survival of the unfittest, the most eligible men died fighting, while the fat useless ones stayed behind hindering the gene pool. btw terrible acting/trolling on playing the Neo con heartless capitalist card, didn't come across well flawed logic, if every worker was staffed in the army and fleet, wed have full employment, and nothing to eat.
the only thing its good for according to edwin starr is the undertaker, and i don't think I've seen a listed funeral parlour yet.
