this makes the tick value the same, but its not a straight hedge - remember the Dow ranges much more than the ES and also they are not both perfectly correlated since the Dow is made up of only 30 weighted stocks, where the SP is 500 components.

Also all the companies on spread betting the minimun bett is 1 pound?
