How do you recover from a £25,000 loss....

Covering ...bang in the middle of a very obvious trend ? Hmm...

??? when else would you cover ? right at the end? or before a holiday in the US?

do you know what NFP means do you realise what a much anticipated number would mean. do you know what QE3 is. Ben Burntcake ring any bells.

True, i funded the account with £6,000, traded successfully up to £25,000 then lost the lot
You're a complete ******, only up to £25,000. You should have made 10 times that amount. I hope you lost it drinking and whoring in a traditionally respectable manner.

Anyway............! Things like this always grab my interest, I mean whats all this about ?? Do you think theres a chance IG may be trying to scare the shorts !

yes, that's the spikey bit that took down maudy in the other ig "is bad" thread, as has already been pointed out there, as well as in yours here, nfp. so i think other than questions regarding fairness in what trade levels were hit or ignored re maudy's order. that move is reflected on every platform chart i have access to and doesn't just appear on ig only.

mrfigure, i'd suggest calm, not easy for you i know, as you just traded up to a large sum and lost it all very quickly. you will not recover from your loss if you attack and blame the broker for your account demise. you will not recover unless you fully admit to yourself that you were the instrument of your own demise. i wish you well as always.

Lovely jubbly, havnt blamed the broker by the way, not with my trade anyway, not sure whether maudy is. Iv merely asked questions to satisfy my suspicions on price movement. My trade wasnt placed on nfp day.

i appreciate that your issues were not associated with a news announcement of any kind. more to do with a poor entry with large size and not having a stoploss in place, which you've admitted to and said you'd address. this is good, as oscar says "stops are in - emotions are out!"

some posts you have made regarding ig just seem to convey an impression, to me, that the broker helped in some way to take away your gains.

Thats because one thing we cant say without doubt, is that sb firms are as 'good as gold' !

Mrfigure, Spikes are a fact of life. The markets are sweeping up and down in order to take out all the stops. The traders entering at those points figure that the majority will have stop losses there. All those, for example, who have entered lower down and put 20-25 points on are going to get taken out and the orders by those taking advantage of those stops are going to create a double whammy in the opposite direction. Everyone is buying on the down side or selling on the up side, all at once. A phenomenal amount of volume in just a few minutes.

Think about it and it will make sense.

Sincerely sorry about your loss.

one thing's for sure, your recovery will be hampered if you can't rid yourself of this. your trading will not recover if you are worrying what mickey finn the broker will slip you.

Since you believe otherwise, how are you going to get your money back then ? They are the only ones with the game in town for small players. But, personally, I believe if you don't like the casino and don't ever go back, then you don't have a problem. But you seem to have this need to get your money back. Whatever you thought they hit you with will hit you again the moment you go back.

As for spikes in prices, these are very common occurrences. It's very surprising you think they were unusual. You only need to play with forex for a day to see 2 or 3 major spikes happening like clockwork.

time will tell.

Perhaps you can do us one of those double your money threads. Many have tried and failed. if you succeed, you will be the talk of the town and everyone will start taking what you say about the bookies seriously. I just love double your money threads. It should be easy for you to achieve since you quadrupled your money before (although unverified).

mrfigure, where are you at now? demo trading? have you adjusted in anyway your strategy? can you tell the thread at what stage your recovery plan is at?

Not trading real money at the moment mcqueen, just monitoring the markets and charts. Have had some pleasing paper trades though. Im still keen on price action trades, this has been a successful element of my trading so far. Paper today entered a short position on the dax at 5365 and got out at 5318. A stop in place at 5377 no limit order as i was watching the trade. A very obvious down day today for the indices following on from the asian session, so selling on strength would have been key today. Just monitoring the eur/gpb

Real trades create reactions in the market. Making a come back on paper doesn't mean much.
