These are the latest examples of how some people consider that Britain/the world is turning into a surveillance society, with "Big Brother" watching over us.

Personally, I think CCTV is a good thing if it helps prevent crime & helps capture offenders, whether this is to stop drunks fighting on a Friday night in busy town centres, or to prosecute those involved in such incidents.

If talking CCTV can help prevent crime further, I don't see this as being bad.

I think that speed cameras are a good idea, as they have generally made me drive slower, and think much more about my driving.

Did anyone see that program the other day about crims... it said that all of the crimes in the UK are committed by 100000 people!! To boot they are usually re-offenders aswell. Have I got this correct or did I misshear? That to me says it all.

Although on speed cameras, it is possible to argue that time & attention spent by drivers looking out for speed cameras, double-checking speed/slamming on the breaks near speeds cameras etc. etc. instead of watching the road, may create danger and cancel out some of the benefits of speed cameras....
