Hello all,

My names's Pete, I've just turned 30 and I'm currently a Captain in the British Army. I've been serving 8 years and now looking for a switch of career. I studied Computer Science at the University of Leeds and obtained a 2:1. My degree was practically 80% mathematics so I've hopefully got the pre-reqs when it comes to that side of life.

I am however in a rather unique position where I need to give a year's notice before I'm released. I am desperately trying to find out what I need to do in my year to get myself up to a competitive standard. My base knowledge is currently low - all I've had time to do so far is on-line learning. I have however become very interested in FOREX and ultimately want to push for that.

My CV is finished but perhaps needs a little 'trading specific' chat. Once complete I want to test the job market to see whether I get any bites. I am ideally after a company who will invest in me, offer trg, allow me to shadow a senior trader, then reap the benefits (hopefully!!) when I get up and running.

I am looking to those of you out there who are old and bold and know the market inside out to let me know how I can get started in this mine field. What do I need to learn first? What specific sites do I need read as part of my morning routine? Which companies should I approach with a CV? Are there Recruitment companies out there that 'buff up' CVs with trading in mind...

So many questions and struggling to find a place to start...

Many thanks in advance for your time,

Pete.

It would be a crying shame to see someone of your calibre enter this industry which is full of crooks and scumbags. Please look elsewhere, there are plenty of opportunities in the security industry. You could not do worse than involve yourself with these leeches.

“I invest in my trading education & myself” ------ Investing in your own education is paramount to success in any field. Forex trading is no different; whether it’s a book on trading psychology or the knowledge of an experienced Forex trading coach, learning something each day to make yourself a better trader will only improve your edge in the markets.

Pete, you do not know what you're getting yourself into.
Continue learning & studying, demo-trade for at least 6 months, invest a LITTLE money in a mini-account, trade for 6 months, then if you are profitable after that, you can think about changing your career to forex trading...

Pete -

I salute you (y)

I used to work with the Aussie SAS in Australia and New Zealand and you guys are indeed a special breed prepared to sacrifice all for your country and flag

ok some home truths.....

no one will give you anything in this business....its brutal and the markets are unforgiving .....and its not 9-5...so dont expect it

I would suggest you do 6 months of browsing the internet and researching systems and styles of trading.....Demo account suff to test ideas and be open to everything

dont spend a penny on training or special systems .........most stuff is Sh*te and simple trend following systems with bells on

in 6 months (or earlier) you will be ready to ask the right questions to the right people and will have met a few guides along the way

but the only path is your own ultimately ........as clones die in this jungle

start on T2W and look at the beginner areas and website recommendations for newbies

Good luck (y)
