Its because of their facial bone structure. Its dominating and a strong component of their face, this gives more of a male look rather than a feminine one which is usually associated with roundness... In short, its Arnold Schwartz style rather than Kate Moss.

As far as I know (not very) the UK uses the performace of the US as a leading economic indicator. Outstanding performance in an individual sector can push up the index which in turn can drag up other sectors to an extent. S&P >>> Dow (Tech?) >= FTSE

That could all be wrong.
