Hi,

I have the following data format in one column:

19/07/04 13:21

I need the time data in a separate column.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Hi ChowClown

There is 2 ways of doing it that I know of, (which way you choose will depend on how often you need to do it).

Either write a Excel Macro, or (my preferred way) Using the Text to columns function in the Data menu.

  • Highlight the cells you want, then goto Data->Text to columns.
  • The wizard will appear.
  • Click Delimited, then click next.
  • Under delimiters make sure just Space is ticked.
  • Then click Next.
  • That will bring up the preview of what will happen and click finish if your happy with it

HTH :)

Can you not just just reference the cell in the next column and then format the first to show only date DD/MM/YY and the next to show only HH:MM
