I just rang Elephant (my car insurance provider) to check some conditions on my policy and as part of the review (are your contact details still the same? etc) they asked me if I was still a journalist.

To which I replied that no, I was a full time trader.

To which my insurance premium automatically jumped up by just under 10% as being a trader makes me more of a risk on the road.

WTF!

Anyone not using Swift cover is an absolute mug IMHO. Other than that use Tesco compare to get the premium down, for once it's open warfare out there for your business...

I have to agree swift are pretty cool. They where about the only UK insurer who allowed me to keep my previous no claims bonus as I'd been away from the UK for yonks, they where less than 1/3rd the price of my previous insurer, and when I drove into a neighbours 4x4 only one week after taking out the policy they actually paid up without a problem.
