Hello everyone,
I have a question.
In the NYSE market I believe that each stock has a specialist? In the FTSE markets are there also specialists or equivalent for every stock? Or does this only happen in say the AIM market.

Thanks for any feedback to help my little trading journey.

Mechanics of the various systems in London is described here

http://www.londonstockexchange.com/...edge/investmentfactsheets/marketmechanics.htm

Broadly the difference between NYSE and London market is that for any stock on NYSE there is a single specialist who manages the market in that stock. In london there are usually several market makers competing for buisness either through the Quotes based SEAQ system or, for the bigger, more liquid stocks, the SETS order driven market . Nasdaq in the states operates an electronic order driven system with multiple market makers competing for business rather than a single specialist.
