'delays, errors, crashes'

I'm experiencing a LOT of LONG hangs or lost connections while logged into T2W
my T2W traffic log today (5:55pm pst) lists Outgoing to:
ds.serving-sys.com
hosting.adjug.com
googlesyndication.com
tracking.adjug.com
adserver.adtech.de
google-analytics.com
pixel.quantserve.com
ds.serving-sys.com
ds.serving-sys.com — I may have missed some
while I don't mind contributing my stats for T2W I'm getting pizzed-off with the
current T2W experience

T2W is the ONLY forum I have problems with, is it because you're in the UK ?
do UK users have similar problems viewing EliteTrader for instance or other US
forums ?
is it the ads you're running that must cycle through before the page comes up
that's causing the problems ?

It is all spyware and I find it just as annoying that T2W are responsible for so much of it on my pc. I had 84 infections in less than a week which almost all was from T2W. You can get rid of it using any of the spyware removal programs and even free versions like adaware will do it. The issue for me is that if you don't get rid of it then it does slow down your pc so you need to keep on top of it.

I've had no problem with T2W or anywhere else. I use Firefox browser and allow only selected / trustworthy sites to set cookies - all the rest are excluded. The pop-up blocker is also activated. I use firewall and anivirus (all free - don't like paying out!). Might be worth checking what's actually running on your system. I regularly run the spyware detection prog - your post just prompted me to check - nothing there. Virtually every website wants to collect stats and monitor your browsing. Eg. I was browsing for memory cards yesterday and Amazon (who have cookie permission - did have, I should say) sent me an email a couple of hours later - guess what it offered? - memory cards!
 
Yes T2w - still Remains Probably The Slowest Of The Websites I Regularly Visit - On A Consistent Basis. The Recent Server Switch Seems To Have Made Little Difference to speeds & Various "unable to Access T2W issues" - Imo.
 
There seems to be an issue with IE at the moment - in so far, as the page never seems to finished loading, it still loads fast, but for some reason the loading bar stays on. This doesn't happen in firefox. With regards the list TDR has - they are all either advertising or analytics, there's nothing there that rings any alarm bells. You can't call it spyware, as the advertising is simply that, and the analytics tracks website usage in terms of page impressions and aggregated visitor stats, which we need as its required by our advertisers (basically auditing) or it helps us to know how members use the site so we can decide on how best to improve it.
 
I should also add that as our servers are hosted in the US, UK members may find it *marginally* slower than UK sites, but should at least be as fast as any US site. The new servers are fully optimised now and handling the traffic with ease, so if there is a slowdown it shouldn't be caused by the website - but I'll check anyway with what extra optimisations we can make to the actual website code.

I won't say I've had no problem with t2w, but the problems seem to have been a result of all the tinkering that's been going on. However, if you're using IE, this may account for much of your trouble. Like 7, I use Firefox. I also refuse cookies from everybody except for my broker, banks, credit cards, and other trusted sites (this virtually eliminates that constant spinning/grinding). I also block popups and other things I won't mention here, though I'll be happy to respond to PMs. All of this, plus the fact that Firefox is far lighter than IE in the first place, makes everything run smoother and faster.

I've just done this. Now if i go to my user CP - i have to log back in. From my user CP to the new posts button - i have to log back in. So i've had to allow cookies from T2W in FireFox.

I've never had issues with T2W causing spy- nor adware. My Firefox + Privoxy combo blocks just about anything. Yes, this means I'm missing the Société Général add on the front page :p

In order to avoid the above, you'll have to allow some, but not necessarily all. Some cookies originate with t2w. Others, such as with ads, come through t2w and have nothing to do with how you and t2w relate.

I've settled on the comprimise solution of allowing cookies "until i close firefox". Lateral thinking ;). I was being repeatedly denied access to yahoo mail, hotmail etc, despite allowing them as exceptions. Too much hassle.

Actually, the cookies are held either way, i.e., they don't disappear just because you close Firefox.

Whether this is too much hassle or not depends on the effect on your computer. If you have loads of memory and a great connection, none of this may matter. Otherwise, it pays to look at the cookie and deny anything that doesn't have to do with whatever site you're working with. You'll find, however, that even when you deny a cookie, the page will nearly always load anyway. But you won't have something constantly "writing" to your computer while you're trying to work.

I have been having the problem of pages not loading completely (though still able to navigate the site) for the past couple of weeks. But as of last night the problem has dissappeared, so what ever you have done Sharky it has worked! (At least for me) Speed has also improved significantly.

yesterday after reading thru 'New Threads' I went back to post on your thread
'MetaTrader Forum Ideas'
first the thread wouldn't open so I got to it via Forex Forums then when I tried to
'Submit Reply' it hung; after about 3mins the post was finally processed

no problems today
