Guys,

I think there is definately a certain type of personality within a person that becomes a trader, that at certain times being rude, bad mannered, condesending, a know it all cockiness that is pretty ugly. Any novice may as well stay away from this site because there are too many arogant arses just waiting to pounce. Whats wrong with just stating why a comment is wrong or wont work, if you cant do that then just dont comment? It seems that some of you feel its your duty to belittle and make people look stupid. Maybe you like to take out your bad days trading on someone, who knows?

If u were talking to someone who was showing u how to make hundreds of pips a day u would be talking very differently wouldnt you so what does that say about you? not a lot really does it?

No need to mention any names, been reading so many threads where novices are thrown to the wolves and thought i would make a comment. Yes it is a tough aggressive enviroment where only the very best survive but still..........

If someone tells you to **** off, then tell them to **** off.

Problem solved :)

What a waste of time and talent.

The best is to let the rude guy get tired. Unfortunately, when a smart ass posts, there is always another who thinks that he is better.

I'm not a rude person but, if I enter a thread where my opinion is unwanted, I don't get answers. The result? I go somewhere else. In all the time that I have been on this site,
no one has has told me to **** off. There is, always, a first time, of course, but silence is a better indication that my presence is not wanted. :)

It is natural.

Successsfull (not wannabe) traders:

* Are right
* Know it
* Swim against the group
* Know they are an elite.

Point. No sense discussing - they are 2 of 100, and make money from being right. That leads to a certain type of self-esteem and arrogance.

Few manage to stay away from that and be really humble. But those are nice people to be around.

I agree that there are allot of people who post replies to ‘novices’ who seem to be 'experienced' but who are quite arrogant and rude in their manner. I feel sorry for them as even if you are successful at trading I would hate to go through being rude and arrogant. Just as you strive to be a good trader you should try and be a good person also. Fortunately not all of the experience guys are rude and arrogant. Trader Dante seems to be always helping 'novices' and giving advice in a helpful and constructive manner. I just try and get as much knowledge from this site and ignore the W...ers.

More than aware of the attitude you're referring to but disagree with the term "arrogance".

It's more the attitude that comes with having to make boolean decisions (ie "Buy" or "Sell") very quickly.

At the risk of being arrogant I have to say the following:

1) There is absolutely no reason that "as you strive to be a good trader you should try and be a good person also" would apply. Being a good person doesn't improve ones trading and may be detrimental.

2) Arrogance seems frequently to be generated by the:
a) seemingly stupid
b) arrogantly demanding
c) staggeringly repetitive
d) unabashedly ignorant of the sites rule or guidelines
posts of some of the newbies.

3) And, given that you should be trying to make a good impression if you want anyone to actually help you then why is it that a complainant (yeah, that works in real life too) can't even use a spell checker to give the impression that they are a) intelligent, and b) care a little bit about appearing to be capable?

As Wasp said somewhere ... harden the fcck up ... or is that a Chopper Read misquote Wasp?

And a PS for NT that, warmest and cuddliest of the site's denizens: the markets are not cruel and nasty any more than the sea. Like the sea they are a source of riches but they don't forgive the foolish or unprepared.

Yes. Many who enter this profession have starry-eyed fantasies and don't (or refuse to) accept just how cruel and nasty the markets really are, far worse than anything you can experience here and you end up poorer. People ought to listen to those who are rude and arrogant, they have important things to say because they have gone through the process and know what is what and what is not. I hate to use the expression “cruel to be kind”, but there is no other way…... I am not good enough to feign humility. :innocent:

It is a type of arrogance. Patronising might be a better word. When one is trading, he is not on here. A person who is posting should be able to make a considered opinion on what he is talking about without wasting his time being rude.

Your just totally wrong!

The markets aren't some cruel beast waiting to strike you down. The markets will reflect how you perceive them. If you perceive them as an enemy who will who is trying to kill you and take your money, then guess what will happen?

I can't stand all this negativity, all this talk from you about being in a constant war with the markets its just drivel. There is no war, all you need to do is recognise what the large traders are thinking/doing and jump on, what is threatening about that?

TBH, I think the true 'arrogance' and rude replies are kept for those who are obvious scammers or complete tits....

Most newbies are met with assistance normally, even from Arabian!

Part of the problem lies in newbies not making use of the first steps threads and asking questions in a forum that since its been running for 9 years, have been done to death and stickied already.

Common sense tells though, that if you come onto a trading forum with people who have been in the business many years and worked hard for their skills, and you say you return 100% with 000's pips per week, you are going to get shot down, same on any forum with ridiculous claims.

But if all that doesn't please you, just harden the fcck up.

You never used to be like that! :D

Makes this P.S totally B.S and pointless, sea...I mean see?

You never used to be like that! :D

I had my fair share of run-ins en-route though but just pushed through.... Laptop1, Jimbo57, Socco... Yet there have been equally helpful instrumental members too, without whom I couldn't be where I am... Chartman, Barjon, dbp, GJ, Kenobi, mrmarcus, Jacinto, Socco(!)...

I try to be helpful on and off site where I can but there is only so many times you can answer the same questions!

You just need to learn who to listen to, who really knows what they are talking about and who to avoid.
