I'm glad other people feel the same way about HH's response. The Budget, on the whole, was pretty good I reckon (doesn't support the argument that Osborne is a useless **** anyway) - but the only thing that I felt any passion for was telling that stupid b!tch to shut the hell up. I mean I actually got cross about it.

Really? I agree with MR...but with the caveat that Gideon lied so many times I lost count...His main lie (pre budget) being that the richer sectors of society would feel pain, they'll feel none...

How can they justify raising VAT tax on consumers by 14% whilst lowering higher CT 14%?
If they wanted to reward entrepeneurs as they said rather than scratch the backs of their friends etc in big business they would have raised the lower earning limits.
If they close (at least some of lol) the offshore tax status of corporations I would say it was a decent budget otherwise it's just more of the same old. These companies pay hardly any UK tax as %age as it is.

I'm on a low income and I still pay for the same things only now I will pay more as %age of earnings because of the VAT rise. Bearing in mind that people like me make up the vast majority of the population then who is really paying through the yahtzee?

Never said you should. I said I get taxed more as a proportion of earnings as a high proportion of my earnings is expensed on VATable items. Higher income means you're likely to have more money to save and as such pay less VAT as proportion of earnings.
Not saying it's a higher vs lower earners thing, it's more supplier vs consumer as the VAT is passed on to non-registered entities. I think that we as earners and consumers should not suffer the VAT and that it should be absorbed by corporations. Maybe like a 0.001% disallowable reclaim on expenditure or something.
