Bit of a hypothetical one this; I'm an active (and reasonably successful) sports 'trader' but I have to admit the bulk of my success comes in the simplest form - having and running an open position on a game or event rather than trading price movements. I haven't really discussed my approach with anyone before, figuring it was so basic. But I'm curious now to see the reality if others activates.

Course you can, there's people who make a living from it and forums dedicated to it.

I’ve traded (scalped) various sports for years (mainly horse racing and tennis). I don’t now due to being charged 50% if I win.

someone is involved sportsmanship difference, surebets not? - You use but it works bookmakers available for surebets? - I saw the co bookmoakers rules of different sports, - Someone give me advice to use the good bookmakers surebets to avoid doing everything wrong by playing catch?

Betdaq is pretty good too. On the long run they can be a very strong rival of Betunfair.
3% commision, no PC, no other bull**** charges and so on. People should consider using it more. There are good trading software ready for it too and the liquidity is all right, if not better than BF in some cases.

Sports trading is mainly know as investing as well. You can trade line movements or live odds that most sports book offer. Been using a system instead of gut or hunches on games. Long term profits are working out so far with this SYSTEM

Been off this a while, apologies. Got to be honest; sports trading seems a simplified form of financial trading! No bs, finite time frames, easy to view actual market participants i.e. game. Th eone really huge issue though is through what medium? Premium charges have caught up with me already. They are higher than tax rates!!! Looking for alternative platform, any thoughts?

sorry ...I was brought up in a Bookmaking family and my first love (and income streams) came from professional Gambling on Horseracing in the 70's.....

But I must say I walked long ago from this arena and eventually found my way to Forex in the early 2000's ....

I made money in the 70's because of

1) it was easy money as a Bookmaker in those days if you were smart
2) my Fathers and Grandfathers extensive contacts in the Racing Business

by the 80's these had diminished and the Edge was lost ......

I always look for the Edge and dont settle for second best ;)

I thinks sports books are quite different now, even over recent years with the exchanges and certainly over the last 10 yrs or so. I read something recently that even the likes of Cantor and that ilk are looking very closely at sports books in Nevada in the expectation that gambling will spread in the US and noting its appeal already in Asia and the UK etc and how similar it is in principal and reality to fiancial market trading. Look; that arena is a million light years from the liquidity etc of the financial markets but it is an increasingly attractive and open niche. Decent money in it (or at least there has been for me so far

I've also traded successfully back in 2004 - 2007 mainly the horse racing markets. There were not so many sophisticated software back then and few traders even knew of "instant-click" betting and "auto-refresh". The majority of bettors hadn't even heard the term "trading" regarding the fixed odds. I finally quit trading at Betfair in 2007 since I couldn't make a profit. This is the kind of profit I was able to accumulate during a regular month in 2005:

I suppose Premium Charges and other additional forms of commission like eggman mentions there would really put me off nowadays. Yet, I strongly believe there are opportunities for profitable trading at Betfair, since prices fluctuate!

Yes of course you can, may be I am late to give you reply but I am sure the reply you have got will help you for next trading.
