Hello,

there are so many economic announcements/reports. I am new to futures and need to understand their relative importance; the ones that can move the market and those ones that institutions/pro traders focus on.

E.g. Fed, Greenspan, jobless claims, retail sales, consumer credit, manufacturing, import/exports, petroleum report, etc.

The list goes on...

Thanks again.

Yes, like everything in life there is a pecking order in all this, you just have to tune in carefully and become accustomed to what's what. Time and practice is the answer.

non-farm payrolls is the big one in the month
Initial claims every Thursday is a mover
Philli Fed and Michigan sentiment are worth sticking around for
PPI & CPI are usually OK
FOMC announcements and Greenspan talking are also worth being aware of.

All main releases can be worth something but the ones above are the reliable movers.
