Brokers with LOW leverage?

Problem with brokers like ig.com, is that they offer only a relatively high 1:200 leverage for FTSE CFDs.
This obviously means that ANY account, however big, will be wiped out with just a tiny 5 point adverse spike! Does anyone know any other respectable broker who would be able to provide a lower leverage, that would allow me to stay in the market longer? Or how else can we trade the FTSE CFD?

Just because they offer 1:200 leverage doesn't mean you have to use it. Keep your lot size small and you won't get wiped out.

For better leverage, at 1:100, they need to buy at least 15 contracts. But even that would take you off the market for volatility as little as 10 points.

For leverage of 3%, you need to buy at least 150 contracts, which would need approx £250k as margin.
Either on leverage, or on the margin amount you have to pay, you get hit. Is that correct?
