Just limping over the finish line to the end of the year, trading quiet and nights long and cold. Need some uplifting stories.

Whats the biggest day you've seen this year at your firm? Been pretty quiet year biggest day i saw (not me sadly) was 180k. Anyone else got any "Mega Day" stories?

mostly intraday - scaling in/out of hundreds of crude contracts - many of the big prop traders have now left for Hong Kong or the hedge fund world...

Why have they gone to Hong Kong? What's attracting them there?

due to regulation - investment banks are shifting their business model away from prop trading - they can get away with a certain amount but the big boys are greedy so they go where they can do their stuff without any aggro from compliance, etc.

Also a lot of the algorithmic trading models that have saturated the U.S and European markets are not quite as prolific over there, a mixture of stricter exchange rules and less sophisticated market infrastructure on some of the newer exchanges means there are more opportunities for humans to make-a-market as opposed to a computer
