Betfair

I don't use betfair, but I'm interested (prolly look at trading football)... I've heard about BetAngel, but Dave you said there was another platform you preferred?

neither of my grandmothers use betfair

Oh. Well tell them from me they don't know what they are missing.

Actually, since I won £500 on SA beating England in the 2007 rugby world cup final I have consistantly been giving my money away on Betfair, but I am about to turn a corner, I know it.

There is a point in that game, about an hour in, where England were in posession and about 10m outside the SA 22 - slap in the middle of the field. England were dominating (marginally) but had just conceded a penalty which brought SA back into the lead IIRC... anyhow, they didn't choose to carry it 5m forward down the centre of the field and score the DG.

Watch the whole final, and you will see that that is where the game was lost.

A guy I know who makes his living on Betfair told me football, especially the bigger leagues, are difficult to make money on. He seems to make most of his money on tennis, darts and golf.

But then I don't think what he does is really trading,

Oh I was watching, for most of the game thought I'd thrown my money away.

I would have though football had the bigger volumes, and mostly put on by people who have been drinking?

Tennis, Darts and Golf must involve trading through the week, right?

Oh and snooker. Yes he bets in the week.

I am a bit out of my depth here but I guess for the purposes of value betting the more liquid markets will present odds which are more of a consensus/accurate reflection of the probable outcome.

If you think about it in stock terms, In a bull market google will probably move in step with the broader market, but some thinly traded low priced stock could go up 200% in a couple of days. The premier league is google.

Just thinking out loud.

hah i can't come up a reason why not use it i am interested in Betfair bots The primary advantage towards using Betfair bots at their most meaningful purpose for coming into being can be perhaps done at randomly selected opportunities. Bots may have that tempting tag of making people want to use bots more than personal aids. Gaining and advantage is really difficult to defy however, people who suddenly encounter the power of greed may find it hard to let it go.

I use Betfair regularly.

I use it for a number of things

1. Back the losing team/underdog at favourable odds. Lay them off as soon as they score and lock in a small profit. Worth looking into this one as it happens far more often than you'd expect.

2. I've had a small amount of success backing the correct score 0-0. After 20 minutes or so lay the bet off. You can only expect a small profit. If you look at most games goals dont tend to be scored in the first quarter. Therefore regular execution of this bet may prove profitable.

3. Finally one for fun. If i'm bored at home and there's a game on tv I like to back over 5.5 goals/6.5 goals. It makes it exciting to watch, wishing goals in and can occasionaly win you a nice bit of money. Again the nearer you get to your target the more you lay it off!

I hasten to add, if your greedy dont bother. You'll lose alot of money. The same of course goes for trading. (y)

Betfair is, in my view, a very good sports betting platform. We could argue the toss as to whether any form of sports betting could be termed trading but then what determines that trading isn't just betting??

Hey I'd actually want to share a few of my trading strategies with interested and serious sportstraders... have been trading for some time and making profit but I've read in many forums that it's always good to have more than 3 different strategies because at one time in point, your major strategy will always start letting you down...

What dyou think?
