There is an interesting, and wide-ranging discussion about the South Sea Bubble. (45 mins)
Melvyn Bragg hosts. Discusses the history building up to it, the social and political environment, and the major players in it.

It's useful in that it's more wider than just a financial overview, but also about the society in which it happened.
It involves the Spanish empire, slave-trading, government debt (mostly from war), political intrigues amongst Whiggs and Tories, the mechanism of the bubble, and the fallout.

I heard it too -- an interesting program about interesting events (Melvyn Bragg's speakers are usually good). And then we come to the late 20th and early 21st centuries and find that very little has changed (did it ever?) in the psychology of the market!

Agreed - the older one gets (provided you reflect on history)-little changes with the passage of time(y)
