Another Newb question about stops

Was Long with a trailing stoploss on Wallstreet today and just before the non farms came out shot right down and stopped me out. When you have big events like this coming out is it wise to move or amend the stop loss.

Cheers

Aye I know that prehaps should edit the thread title, normally have fidessa but obviously not at work today so just found out what did it spike down to because i wasnt watching? But any thought on my question or advice?

Don't trade Wall Street, so not too sure what an average day's move looks like; how much did it move?

But yes, you can expect this sort of thing and should adjust stops accordingly or not be in the market at that time. Trailing stops don't always work in the trader's favour you know.
(Neither does moving stops to break-even, but perhaps that's a debate for another thread :) ).
