Another one bites the dust !

He doesn't seem to realise that what killed him wasn't spread betting/short term trading, it was over-leverage.

Of course leverage is a component of both of those two, but it's that that was his enemy... and if he's not careful he can easily find over-leverage in more conventional forms of investing as well.

Just my tuppence worth.

seems to me he was running losses and not using proper money management. yes, over leverage

Sounds like the old cut winners/run losers routine .... can't admit to being wrong ... usual stuff.

Ultimately this is gambling and lets not call it anything else. It may be informed gambling but so is knowing the form of a horse before a race.

:rolleyes::LOL:

The guy was trying to predict what would happen in the markets, no wonder he crapped out.

By this definition, all buying and selling of tradeable assets is gambling. This includes buying equities or property. It's not a particularly helpful statement, in fact.

But buying properties is investing and that's clever because property houses never fall, roight?

Seriously, what is the difference between "investing" and "gambling" ?

Is investing a "good" thing, and gambling a "bad" thing?

Presumably investing is good because it's "long term" and "profitable", whereas gambling is "short term" and "unprofitable"? In which case, it should be easy to spot ways in which to make money.. buying property and stocks and holding for a long time, is this a fool proof method? etc etc

It's all semantics.

I will be updating the blog with my random economic views and stock thoughts and hopefully still help anyone interesting in spread betting

Yeah right that's very sporting of him but I won't be standing in line awaiting HIS pearls of wisdom imho

depends how perversely you define the terms... you can define TA as being anything that isn't FA, particularly if you're the kind of nobber that desperately wants TA to work and are prepared to whore yourself to a dictionary to acheive it.

Is there anything else other than TA and FA?

I use a superior variation of TA, it's called sweet FA. Results are excellent.

I also find that BA works well. You might not know that one, but I pity the fool who doesn't. I would just point out that you shouldn't make me mad suckah, and finally I would like to say "Hannibal! This crazy fool is talking to his invisible dog again. I ain't gettin on no plane!".

Boom and indeed tish. :)
