Algorithmic Trading - practical questions

I would like to start doing algorithmic trading. I've never traded before, and I am not planning to do it tomorrow but I would like to know what I need in practice.
I will need a bloomberg account, a broker account and a script which works as an interface between the two, I guess.
Any help? Is there anyone doing algorithmic trading here? What language and softwares do you use?

You could try FXCM.
