Advice on LLC setup (in USA)

Greetings!

My wife and I want to start a trading (and education?) company. We've heard an LLC is the best route.

Anyone have any advice on this? Do you recommend hiring a lawyer? Or, is it "safe" and straight-forward enough to do on our own?

Hire a lawyer who specialises in Securities/investment law. Otherwise, you'll be looking for a defence lawyer.
