a stupid question

I know this is a stupid question. But i cant seem to find out how to run a strategy testing on a whole portfolio, i understand how to do it on a single stock, but not like 1000 stocks in a portfolio

you can do it with Tradestation and Rina portfoliostream but it is an expensive option compared to some other packages that allow you to do portfolio testing.
