a newbies first question?

i'm beginning to think that maybe a newbies (like myself) first question should be:

what sort of person am i?

more important than fundamentals, TA, Fib or any other trading tools, i'm starting to think that the key question and possibly most difficult to ask (which will be fundamental to whether you will trade successfully) is the above.

do you generally make a success of whatever you put your hand to? are you determined? do you usually 'put the hours in' to complete difficult tasks? are you good at dealing with stressful situations? are you disciplined? are you a determined learner? are you good at managing your time? are you methodical?

maybe i'm wrong here. but i'm beginning to think that bypassing these questions before you start asking about, 'which is the best software for...' or 'thinking about trading, what's a good broker for...', will only lead to difficulties later on.

surely everyone asks these questions at some point? maybe best make them your first ones?!

I think a question that maybe is before "What sort of person am I?" is "Am I looking at trading as a quick buck?" I'd venture to say that if you took the people who answer affirmatively to that latter question out of the equation the success rate would go up dramatically.

The book was written specifically for beginners. Go here to read more about it and request an evaluation version.

A book I always recommend is Trading in the Zone by Mark Douglas. Read it, put it down, pick it up and read it again.
