I actually prefer the opposite when day trading. I scale in, (first testing the waters), add to the position as it moves in my direction, then single out when I hit my profit target.

IMO with 50% success rate, reward:risk is all I need to improve. If I have a 5:1 reward:risk and 50% success rate I am happy. Even a 2:1 Reward to risk and 50% probability is attractive.
