Good point, scaling should mean you get breakeven trades and you avoid trailing your stop and not taking the really valuable wins because you moved your stop to protect a few pips and prevent a loss.

It is but THE golden rule is protect your capital. if you're getting stopped out each time for a loss that hurts. if even on the trades where the breakout reverses, you're at breakeven you'll feel a lot better. I saw the 2/3 scale on the pozzyp thread here - and thats a really excellent thread...

IG couldn't /wouldn't provide that. I first got a line graph of pa on the day which was pretty useless and then a just a list of prices and times (no chart) stating there was a gap up so order was filled 43 points later - it's complete crap. I'm sticking to FX it happens less

Called & emailed IG about 10 times and eventually got a bloomberg screenshot, which didn't really show a gap up, which they claimed happened, i.e. there was a spike up...

Yeah thats what I was thinking or trading just FX where it happens less, cos that kind of trading means you've got to be at the screen all the time.

Thanks mate, who do you trade with? This looks like a dodgy fill as the Bloomberg shows it peaked at 2687 and with 8.5 for 1/2 the spread thats 2695.5. It looks wrong but I'm not interested in 3.5 pips tho!

Hi yes, I can look at bid / ask / mid, but basically for me the Mid is the real price and I use this TA (you've got to use one of them). I just need to add half the spread on for the buy level and the other half at the sell level to make sure these work as I intend them to.

Sure but it didn't - it opened at 2563 at 0800 and moved up very quickly, i.e. in <3mins to 2690. it looks like they filled it at the highest possible point - it didn't get any higher that day Is there an order you can use which will open only if the level specified is hit?
