The health of the financial industry is normally a sign of how well the economy is doing. If you look at the basic fundamentals (low economic growth, crap results by GS, etc...) we're no where near a recovery yet. I would wait a little while before buying bank stocks.

Looking at Gold from a fundamental point of view, I only see an upside at the moment. Granted there does seem to be a bubble developing at the moment, there are no real alternatives at the moment. Treasuries are facing resistance now (especially after the downgrade) and the opportunity to buy...

The FX markets are extremely volatile and therefore riskier than other markets. I would, however, like to know what markets other traders think beginners should start in. I'm guessing Equities?
