The data indeed exist online, e.g. EDGAR, the question however is if there exists an addin, e.g. the open source addin linked above, which can which can fetch them from the web and put them into an Excel spreadsheet.

When a company does a buyback, the # of shares outstanding gets reduced by the amount of stocks that got bought by the company. My question is why? can't the company just sell them at some point in the future? Is it there legal binding that they won't or people assume they won't because nobody...
